Gov. Kathy Hochul is pushing to update the state’s environmental review process, which dates back over 50 years.

Her plan exempts certain housing projects from the process completely in order to keep up with housing demand.

But there are critics. Some environmental groups are concerned that the exemptions in her proposal are too broad.

Capital Tonight spoke with the mayor of Fredonia, Mike Ferguson, a proponent of reforming the State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA). He claims when it comes to housing, the law is expensive and duplicative.
