BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) – A person was killed when a Brooklyn apartment caught fire on Thursday, according to the FDNY.
Fire officials said the blaze broke out on Ocean Avenue around 2 a.m. More than 70 firefighters and EMS personnel responded to the scene, according to authorities.
Fire officials said the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The fire was under control by 3:45 a.m., according to the FDNY.
The American Red Cross is providing three adults with temporary lodging and financial assistance. Other tenants of the building were able to move in with family, according to the organization.
Fire officials are investigating the cause of the blaze.
