Organizers gear up for annual Kansas Mission of Mercy free dental clinic in Manhattan

  • January 30, 2026

MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) – You can get free dental treatment Friday and Saturday.

The Kansas Mission Of Mercy Dental Clinic is back in Manhattan at the Kansas National Guard Armory.

“We get to help people that otherwise would not be able to get their dental needs taken care of,” Kansas Dental Charitable Foundation Executive Director Niki Sadler said. “So, this means getting people out of pain or getting them help that would turn into dental pain and dental problems.”

Anybody can receive cleanings, fillings and extractions at no cost.

“It just makes me happy to see people be out of pain and be able to smile again and feel good themselves,” Dr. Jill Ellner, chairperson for this year’s local planning committee said.

Organizers thanked the 700+ volunteers who registered to help throughout the weekend, saying it wouldn’t be possible without them.

“Everybody, they’re all licensed dentists,” Sadler said. “Same with the hygienists, they’re licensed hygienists. So, it’s great, they’re all here to volunteer their time and help people.”

“It’s very awesome to see everybody working together and after doing this for so many years it’s almost like a family reunion because so many of us volunteers have done this for so long,” Dr. Ellner said.

Dr. Ellner and Sadler ask for patience as they expect hundreds of people to attend the clinic each day.

“Make sure you bring a list of all the medications,” Dr. Ellner said. “If you have any kind of dietary restrictions, make sure you bring food for yourself if you’re not able to eat what we provide. And be willing to wait in line.”

“We want to help you if you’re a patient,” Sadler said. “We’re going to feed you breakfast, we’re going to feed you lunch, and we’re going to get you in the door. We want to be able to take care of you.”

The clinic runs Friday Jan. 30 & Saturday Jan. 31 at the Army National Guard Armory, 721 Levee Dr. in Manhattan. Doors open at 5:30 a.m. each day.
