Walmarts around the country could soon be adding new amenities to their vast parking lots.
In the coming months, the mega-retailer will add electric vehicle charging stations at Walmart and Sam’s Club locations in nearly 20 states.
The company first announced the EV push in 2023, saying in an announcement at the time that it intended to build out a network by 2030 to make vehicle charging more accessible.
“With a store or club located within 10 miles of approximately 90% of Americans, we are uniquely positioned to deliver a convenient charging option that will help make EV ownership possible whether people live in rural, suburban or urban areas,” Walmart Senior Vice President Vishal Kapadia wrote in the announcement.
Last month, Walmart added over 75 “coming soon” charging locations to its website, according to EVChargingStations.com, outlining the areas the company could soon bring online.
Close to home, one New Jersey location — Freehold Store #3236, 326 W Main St., Freehold — is in line for EV charging.
Other locations will be added in states like Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina. A full list can be found online.
