FOLEY SQUARE, Manhattan (PIX11) – Protesters are expected to fill New York City streets on Friday in a national shutdown against immigration enforcement and ICE.
Organizers have asked people to stay home from work or school and not to spend money. Immigration activists are holding a protest in Foley Square at 4 p.m. to bring attention to the ongoing actions of ICE and Customs and Border Protection – including the fatal shootings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti in Minneapolis.

Protesters will call on lawmakers to pass the New York For All Act, which would “stop state and local law enforcement and government agencies from colluding with ICE, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and all federal agencies conducting civil immigration enforcement.”
Businesses across Minnesota shuttered last Friday in protest of ICE. More “No Kings” marches will also be held across the U.S. in March.
