Authorities have charged two men in connection with a Jan. 19, 2025, shooting in the area of Madison Avenue and Ellison Street, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.
Francisco Bello-Amaro, 31, of the Bronx, and Ronald Rosario, 26, of Paterson, face multiple charges after an investigation determined they were responsible for the shooting.
Police were dispatched to the intersection at about 4:20 a.m. on Jan. 19, 2025, and found a 23-year-old Paterson man who refused medical attention. Police located a potential crime scene in the area and began an investigation.
Rosario was arrested without incident on Feb. 3, 2025, at police headquarters. Bello-Amaro was arrested on Jan. 22, 2026, by the U.S. Marshals Service in the Bronx and was extradited to Paterson on Jan. 30, 2026.
Bello-Amaro is charged with first-degree attempted murder, third-degree aggravated assault, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon and second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and he faces a maximum sentence of 45 years in state prison.
Rosario is charged with first-degree attempted murder, third-degree hindering apprehension and fourth-degree obstruction, and he faces a maximum sentence of about 26 and a half years.
Rosario was briefly held but released on court-ordered monitoring, and prosecutors plan to ask a judge to keep Bello-Amaro in custody pending resolution of the charges.
