The New York Giants are undergoing significant front-office restructuring following the hiring of head coach John Harbaugh, who will report directly to ownership in an unprecedented arrangement for the franchise.

ESPN’s Jordan Raanan, speaking on the Giants Nation Show podcast from the Senior Bowl, reports that the team is creating a new executive vice president position.

“I heard the Giants are hiring some sort of executive vice president,” Raanan said. “The interesting part of that, to me, is that this role — look, they’re hiring a lot of positions. There’s going to be a whole bunch of new positions. This is one that I heard about that they talked to a bunch of people about.

“The interesting part about that to me, this executive vice president — whatever the role may be or turn into — it reports directly to John Harbaugh. So that is very interesting when you’re talking about, okay, he doesn’t report to the general manager, that’s reporting directly to John Harbaugh.”

Raanan described this as further evidence that “John Harbaugh is running the show here.”

The move aligns with broader changes under Harbaugh’s regime, including multiple expected hires with ties to the Baltimore Ravens across departments, amid departures such as long-time senior vice president Kevin Abrams after 27 years.

This reporting structure underscores Harbaugh’s substantial influence as he reshapes the organization. No specific candidate for the executive VP role has been identified, and interviews remain preliminary.
