There were no injuries reported after a fire broke out on Sunday afternoon, Feb. 1, in a residential building in the Fordham Heights section of The Bronx, according to the fire department.
An FDNY spokesperson said the department received a call at 2.04 p.m. on Sunday for a report of a fire in the walls of the basement and first floor of a residential building at 4449 Park Avenue located between East 181st Street and East 182nd Street.
The spokesperson said 21 units, comprising 79 fire & EMS personnel responded to the scene and the fire was brought under control at 2.50 p.m. with no injuries.
The spokesperson added that the fire marshal was notified [in order to carry out an investigation into the cause, which was not yet known/shared.] Norwood News has reached out to the Red Cross for details of any displaced residents and will share any further information as it becomes available.
Later on Sunday, as reported, residents of 15 East 199th Street said a boiler outage and a smell of oil fumes resulted in the FDNY being called to their building in Bedford Park. There do not appear to be any injuries. More to follow.

Two firefighters and two civilians were injured following an early morning fire in the Throggs Neck section of The Bronx on Wednesday, Jan. 28.
There were no injuries reported following an “all hands” fire which broke out and spread to several floors in a building in the Allerton section of The Bronx also on Jan. 28.

The FDNY urges residents to clear ice and snow from nearby hydrants. “Buried hydrants cause significant delays, increasing the danger and difficulty of fighting a fire,” they said. “So please, keep yourself and your neighbors safe by clearing hydrants!”
