Democrats could see primary for 119th Assembly seat

A Democratic primary could take place for the 119th Assembly District seat.

Jon Lipe launched his campaign in Utica over the weekend. He currently works for U.S. Rep. John Mannion.

Utica Councilman Joe Betar is also running as a Democrat.

On the Republican side is Deerfield Town Board member Dan Fusco and former Oneida County Legislator Michael Gentile.

The 119th District covers Utica and Rome, and several surrounding communities in Oneida County. It is currently represented by Marianne Buttenschon. She previously announced she would not run for re-election.
