Bismarck photographer plays matchmaker with ‘stranger sessions’

  • February 3, 2026

MANDAN, N.D. (KFYR) – A local photographer is playing cupid this Valentine’s Day.

There’s a twist to Brooklyn Earhart’s “stranger sessions.”

She matches up two strangers, blindfolds them then photographs the moment they meet.

Earhart hopes even if the couples she matches don’t fall madly in love, at least maybe they’ll find a new friend and have a little fun.

This is the first time Briana Hauck and Evan Izzi have met. Photos capture the unforgettable moment.

They both signed up for one of Brooklyn Earhart’s “stranger sessions.”

“They fill out this form, and I take what everybody explains about themselves and what they look for in another person. I kind of match them up that way,” Earhart explained.

Both Hauck and Izzi admitted they were a little nervous to take the blindfolds off.

“I didn’t know what he looked like, or what was going to happen or what I was walking into, really,” said Hauck.

“Just a touch nervous. But it’s a fun experience,” added Izzi.

Earhart said she’s got some butterflies, too; this is her first time playing cupid.

“This is all new for me,” she said with a laugh.

For Earhart, it challenges her photography skills, and it helps her meet new people.

“Just the smiles and the fun that comes out of it. I mean, whether you go on a date afterwards or maybe this is just a new friend. It’s just it’s so fun to interact with people,” said Earhart.

Earhart has photographed five couples so far. Three of those five have gone on dates after their stranger session.

Earhart said she doesn’t have any expectations. But she admits, she is invested in every couple’s story.

“If this does turn into something, you know, I’m here for engagement photos or wedding photos,” laughed Earhart.

That’s a love story, she said, would be nothing short of picture perfect.

You can see Earhart’s stranger sessions on her website and on her Facebook and Instagram.
