New York State will invest $600 million during the 2026 construction season to repave roadways, including $46 million in the Finger Lakes Region.

Gov. Kathy Hochul’s office said the investment represents the most ambitious infrastructure resurfacing agenda ever implemented by the Department of Transportation.

There are 180 projects scheduled, impacting 2,150 lane miles across the state.  That includes 359 lane miles in the Finger Lakes Region.

“These infrastructure improvements make our roads safer and improve the traveling experience for motorists across Monroe County,” County Executive Adam Bello said in a news release.

The largest investment in the county will be made on Interstate 490, with $8.8 million earmarked for resurfacing the roadway through Gates, Chili, Churchville and Riga between exit 2 (Route 33A) and exit 6 (Route 204).

Two other notable projects for the region include $4.4 million to repave Route 104 between Furnace and Pound roads in Ontario and Williamson, and $2.8 million for upgrades on Lyell Avenue between Washington Street and Howard Road in Gates.
