The New York Giants are hiring Matt Nagy as their new offensive coordinator, reports NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

The move comes after the team pivoted from their initial top target in the search process.

Nagy, 47, brings extensive experience to the role. He served as offensive coordinator for the Kansas City Chiefs over the past three seasons, contributing to their high-powered attack before the sides parted ways following a postseason miss.

Before that, Nagy was head coach of the Chicago Bears from 2018 to 2021, compiling a 34-31 record with two playoff appearances. He also had earlier stops as an offensive assistant with the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Giants’ offensive coordinator search began with strong expectations that Todd Monken would join new head coach John Harbaugh in New York. Monken, Harbaugh’s OC with the Baltimore Ravens, was widely believed to follow him to the Giants after Harbaugh’s hiring. Harbaugh even attempted to persuade Monken against other opportunities, expressing surprise when Monken instead accepted the head coaching job with the Cleveland Browns.

With Monken off the board, the Giants turned to Nagy to lead the offense and aid in developing quarterback Jaxson Dart, who showed promise in his rookie season.

Nagy’s background in play-calling and mentoring young QBs aligns with the team’s needs amid recent offensive challenges.
