Wagner 81, MSIT 46

The Falcons powered their way to a 32-4 fourth-quarter to break open a close game and coast to the opening-round win.

Jayden Acea led the Falcons with 21 points, while Dylan Amenieros and Abidina Balde scored 14 and 12 points, respectively.

A well-balanced SW attack also got contributions from Jonathan Jose (seven points), while Kasyn Ford and Kyle Kyee each scored six.

Adam Kaba led the Gulls with a game-high 22.

SW held leads of 18-6 after one and 31-23 at the intermission as Acea poured in 19 of his 21 before the break. Amenieros (four triples) got hot from long-distance in the second-half to spark the winner’s.

New Dorp 68, Port Richmond 46

Mohammed Alshear tossed in a game-best 23 points for the Centrals and Mohammed Mustafa had a strong outing with 17 markers.

ND took a while to get its footing as the Raiders led 12-7 after the game’s first eight minutes.

Port also led 27-26 at the half, but Alshear, Mustafa and Leo Qoku (eight points) spearheaded a 20-9 third period that produced a 10-point bulge for the Centrals heading into the final period. In the pivotal fourth, the New Dorp defense stepped up and limited PR to just three field goals (six points) to earn the victory.

Qoku was a beast on the boards for ND with 22 caroms and the defensive effort was sparked by the aggressive play of Jayden Lopez and Jayden Crawford.

Curtis defeated the Centrals 93-33 in a non-league meeting earlier in the season.

Tottenville 71, SIA 53

The Pirates got big games from Blair Tadros, who netted a game-high 26 points and Lucas Souleidis (20) to cop the win. Adam Musleh was also in double figures with 14, while Raymond Markis had nine.

The Huguenot school bolted out to 39-20 lead at the break and never looked back.

Souleidis canned four from beyond the arc for Tottenville.
