Gov. Kathy Hochul announced that a new power supply contract between the New York Power Authority and Alcoa has been signed.

Alcoa, a major aluminum supplier in Massena, is one of the North Country’s largest employers.

The deal will provide $30 million in capital investments and supports 500 jobs at the plant over the next 10 years.

It also includes a 240-megawatt allocation of low-cost power through the “Preservation Power” program.

That will support Alcoa’s operations through March 2036.
