Residents made several reports of ICE activity in multiple locations in Manhattan Thursday morning.

Riley County police confirmed that federal Immigrations and Customs Enforcement officials were active in the area, but a spokesman said the police department was not directly involved and couldn’t comment on any operations.

RCPD director Brian Peete said the department was not notified of the activity before it happened.

Photos and videos shared on social media showed a group of unmarked cars that had made early-morning stops at the construction site at CiCo Park, at Diamond Roofing, and at Knox Lane and Hayes Drive in the Northview area.

Officials from the ICE Midwest field office did not immediately respond to calls for comment. The Mercury submitted a Freedom of Information Act request Jan. 26 for public records related to local ICE detainments and an updated request Feb. 5, but the federal government has not yet responded.
