An 81-year-old man died after a fire ripped through the fifth floor of a Brooklyn apartment building Thursday, cops said.

The blaze ignited inside the building on 47th St. near 12th Ave. in Borough Park around 2:45 p.m., according to cops and firefighters.

The victim was found dead inside an apartment, cops said. His name is being withheld until after his family is notified of his death.

A total of 79 firefighters and paramedics responded to the scene of the fire, which was extinguished after about an hour, firefighters said.

Fire marshals will investigate the cause of the fire.
