Gov. Kathy Hochul announced former City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams as her running mate on Tuesday, but the move caused some uproar among some Brooklyn Democrats.
The Brooklyn Democratic Party withdrew its endorsement of Hochul’s reelection bid.
State Assemblymember Rodneyse Bichotte-Hermelyn joined NY1 political anchor Errol Louis on “Inside City Hall” Thursday from the State Democratic Convention in Syracuse to discuss more.
She represents all or parts of Flatbush, Ditmas Park and East Midwood in Brooklyn, and is also the chair of the Brooklyn Democratic Party.
“This is not about beef with the governor, nor is it any of the beef with her pick. This was about a downballot risk and it was about a change in processes. And actually consulting with the largest Democratic county in the whole entire state that typically delivers the votes for statewide and citywide elections. That was a concern that changed the minds of the votes of many of the members of the Brooklyn Democratic Party,” Bichotte-Hermelyn said.
