A new PAC funded largely by Uber is launching a nearly $3 million ad campaign backing Gov. Kathy Hochul’s proposed car insurance reforms, including a Super Bowl spot.

Hochul says the measures would curb fraud and lower premiums. Trial lawyers argue the changes would limit victims’ ability to sue.

2. Hicks previews vision ahead of installation as archbishop of New York

Bishop Ronald Hicks will be installed Friday as the 11th archbishop of New York at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, succeeding Cardinal Timothy Dolan.

Hicks says his leadership will emphasize gratitude, missionary discipleship and inclusion, aligning closely with Pope Leo XIV’s vision. The transition includes vespers Thursday and a formal installation Mass Friday afternoon.

3. Brooklyn Democratic Party chair talks decision to rescind Hochul endorsement

Gov. Kathy Hochul’s selection of former City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams as her running mate has prompted the Brooklyn Democratic Party to withdraw its endorsement of her reelection bid.

Party Chair Rodneyse Bichotte-Hermelyn said the decision was about process and down-ballot risk, not personal conflict.

She cited concerns over a lack of consultation with the state’s largest Democratic county ahead of the announcement.
