A Virginia man has been arrested after he allegedly caused a high-speed crash that resulted in the death of an Upstate New York woman.
The New York State Police have announced the arrest of a 38-year-old man and charged him with criminally negligent homicide, a felony, after he allegedly caused a three-car accident that resulted in the death of a 63-year-old woman from Glens Falls, NY.

The accident, which happened on November 1st, 2025, at approximately 4:44 p.m. on the northbound side of I-87 near Exit 23 in the town of Bethlehem, NY, involved three vehicles traveling along the New York State Thruway, including two Chevrolet sedans and a 2009 Ram pickup truck. Police said that one of the vehicles, a 2011 Chevrolet sedan driven by William F. McAllister, was allegedly driving at more than 130 miles per hour in the left lane on the thruway when it attempted to move into the right lane, and sideswiped a 2009 Ram pickup truck.

McAllister’s vehicle then veered back into the left lane and rear-ended a 2025 Chevrolet sedan, sending it into a guardrail along the highway. Sadly, the driver of the 2025 Chevrolet, later identified as 63-year-old Claudia Hargis-Grover, of Glens Falls, NY, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to New York Upstate. A passenger in Hargis-Grover’s vehicle suffered non-life-threatening injuries, and the driver and a passenger in the Ram pickup truck were taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation.

William F. McAllister III, of Ringgold, Virginia, was officially charged Tuesday with criminally negligent homicide, a felony. Police said he surrendered himself to State Police in Latham, NY, where he was arrested and processed. At the time of the crash, police said that McAllister showed no signs of impairment.
