As the Winter Olympics get underway in Italy, a group of New York lawmakers is exploring a bid to bring the Winter Games to the state in the future.

The idea follows a recent model of major cities partnering with mountain towns, as Milan and Cortina are doing this year.

Assemblymember Bobby Carroll is part of an effort to pair New York City with the historic Olympic venues in Lake Placid for a potential future Games.

Carroll, who is traveling to Italy for this year’s Olympics, joined “Mornings On 1” Friday to discuss the proposal and what it could mean for the state.
