A Heimish Yid from Rockland has completed training as a New York State Trooper, graduating today with 237 other officers from the 217th session of the Basic School at the State Police Academy. The ceremony took place at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center in Albany. With this graduation, the State Police now have about 5,110 sworn members.

Governor Kathy Hochul, speaking at the event alongside State Police Superintendent Steven G. James, praised the graduates for their dedication. “Our State Police represent the best of New York, offering nothing short of their full devotion each day to the safety and security of our communities,” she said. “Public safety is my number one priority — and on behalf of all New Yorkers, I commend these 238 men and women for their selfless commitment to service and congratulate them on this extraordinary achievement.”

The troopers are set to begin field duty in less than a week, on October 27. The Rockland resident will join fellow officers as they head out to serve.
