FAR ROCKAWAY, Queens (PIX11) — Three people were rescued from icy waters after possibly falling through the ice Friday evening, according to police.

Authorities received a 911 call at around 4:15 p.m. for multiple people in the water near 13-10 Norton Avenue, officials said.

The Fire Department, Emergency Medical Sercives and the NYPD assisted in rescuing, police said.

Fire trucks, police vehicles, an ambulance, and a helicopter were present at the scene.

Multiple first responders were seen on a sheet of ice, using ropes to assist individuals who appeared to be in distress. At one point, a first responder hooked to a chopper was seen lifting someone into the air and guiding them to the sidewalk, according to a video posted on Citizen.

Three people were taken to area hospitals, police said.

Their status remains unclear.
