The New York Giants are hiring Mike Bloomgren as their new offensive line coach, reports Bob Brookover of NJ Advance Media.

Bloomgren, 49, brings a wealth of experience in developing offensive lines at both the college and professional levels. He most recently served as offensive line coach for the Cleveland Browns in 2025, joining the team after being fired as head coach at Rice University midway through the 2024 season.

During his seven-year tenure at Rice (2018–2024), he compiled a 24–52 record but guided the program to consecutive bowl appearances in 2022 and 2023 — the third such occurrence in school history.

Before Rice, Bloomgren spent seven seasons at Stanford (2011–2017), where he coached the offensive line (initially as run game coordinator), then served as offensive coordinator and assistant head coach. There, he helped develop standout NFL talents like guards David DeCastro and Joshua Garnett (2015 Outland Trophy winner) and running back Christian McCaffrey, who set the NCAA all-purpose yards record.

Bloomgren’s NFL roots trace back to the New York Jets (2007–2010), where he worked as offensive quality control coach and offensive assistant. His earlier college stops included roles at Alabama, Catawba, and Delta State.

The move bolsters the Giants’ staff amid efforts to strengthen protection for their quarterback and running game. Bloomgren’s pro-style background and track record as a teacher and motivator make him a strong fit for the position.
