Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic frontrunner in the New York City mayor’s race, plans to ask Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch to stay in the post if he’s elected next month, according to three people familiar with the matter.
Mamdani, a state assemblyman from Queens, has said in recent months that he’s been impressed by Tisch’s efforts to root out corruption within the New York Police Department’s upper ranks. His intention to keep her was first reported by the New York Times.
