The first figure skating medals are up for grabs Sunday and Team USA currently sits in gold-medal position with three team events remaining.

The United States starts the final day of team competition in the lead by about five points, a slim margin that could easily change over the course of the final events — pairs, women’s and men’s free skates.

Japan’s skaters on hot on their heels, followed by Georgia and Italy.

Ilia Malinin, Amber Glenn, Danny O’Shea and Ellie Kam skate Sunday for the final three events of the team competition for figure skating.

A day after stunning audiences with his backflip, Malinin will hit the ice again in the men’s free skate. Glenn makes her long-awaited debut at the Winter Olympics for the women’s free skate. Both free skates come after the pairs, which will see O’Shea and Kam take the ice together once again.

On the first night of men’s figure skating, Team USA’s Ilia Malinin stunned spectators with a backflip on the ice — but didn’t finish in first place.
