STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Staten Island is more than 2,500 miles away from Santa Clara, Calif., where Super Bowl LX between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks will be held on Sunday at 6:38 p.m., but that doesn’t mean our staffers at SILive.com/Advance don’t have any interest in the big game.

As a matter of fact, Sunday’s game is all the chatter in the newsroom this week as folks check their numbers in the their many football pools and get ready to place a bet on their favorite betting sites.

That’s why our staffers wanted to make their annual selections on who will win the big game.

Here is how seven of our staffers see the outcome of the big game.

***

Joe D’Amodio: For my last Super Bowl pick before I retire after 40 years, the Patriots become the first NFL team to nail down its seventh Super Bowl crown, surpassing the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Patriots 27, Seahawks 23

***

Michael O’Brien: Painful as it may be to say as a 49ers fan, the Seahawks put the ghost of Malcom Butler behind them to get their long-awaited revenge against the Patriots.

Seahawks 31, Patriots 17

***

James Yates: Jets fans get a glimpse at what could have been when Sam Darnold lifts the Lombardi Trophy. At least they won’t have to watch the Patriots win another Super Bowl.

Seahawks 23, Patriots 13

***

Eddie Mayrose: As with everything in the NFL, I evaluate the situation based on how the football gods can inflict the most pain upon Jet fans. So, while watching Sam Darnold exorcise the ghosts that haunted him in New York would ruin Super Sunday for Gang Greeners, the potential beginning of a second dynasty in New England would crush our souls for years. For that reason I see the Pats taking a barnburner; naturally facilitated by a bad call that goes their way.

Patriots 37, Seahawks 34

***

Annie De Biase: While it’ll be a close game throughout, the Seahawks will come up late with its biggest defensive stand to pull out its second Super Bowl win.

Seahawks 21, Patriots 16

***

James Speciale: Seattle is the better team with the better defense, and defense wins championships. Close game, but Sam Darnold wins a Super Bowl to torture Jets fans even more.

Seattle 28, New England 23

***

Charlie De Biase Jr.: Forget about Sam Darnold. Giants fans continue to shake their heads in disbelief as ex-free safety Julian Love records two interceptions, including a pick-6, to lead the Seahawks to the promised land.
