There is not much to separate Linette and Kartal this year, but Kartal’s additional qualification matches give her an edge in terms of her overall service points won percentage – but the additional matches could well also take their toll in terms of fatigue.
Playing Styles & Prediction
Kartal’s run to the Abu Dhabi quarter-final and a good run through qualification gives her a lot of momentum as she takes on Minette, who finally found some form in Doha last year. Linette had a grim finish to last season, so will take comfort from her quarter-finals this season n Auckland and Hobart.
Linette’s experience, though, makes her the favourite for this match, but Kartal’s play as a disruptor, and the fact that this will be their first meeting gives her a slim chance.
