A Queens teenager was sentenced to nearly a decade in state prison after he shot someone in Broome County in November 2024.

According to the Broome County District Attorney, 19-year-old Shyleek L. Favor was sentenced to nine and a half years in state prison, followed by five years of post-release supervision after he previously pleaded guilty to Attempted Murder.

The D.A. says in August 2024, Favor was arrested by Vestal Police following a traffic stop. Two 9mm handguns and Oxycodone pills were found in the vehicle during the stop. At the time, Favor was charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd degree and one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd degree. He was released after he posted bail in September.

Two months later, in November 2024, Favor was arrested by Binghamton Police.  This time he was charged with Attempted Murder after fired five rounds from an illegally possessed gun, striking the victim in the buttocks, with one of the rounds exiting through the victim’s thigh.

In April 2025, Favor pleaded guilty to Attempted Murder with the understanding that he would be sentenced to nine years in state prison and five years of post-release supervision.

While he was in the Broome County Correctional Facility after his plea, Favor was arrested twice in the span of a few days in July. He was charged with Promoting Prison Contraband in the 1st degree and Conspiracy in the 5th degree.

As a result, he was sentenced to an enhanced determinate time of nine and a half years, along with the post-release supervision.
