A burst pipe flooded part of the 50th Street subway station this afternoon (Monday), forcing a temporary disruption to downtown C service and sending water gushing onto the platform during the height of the midday commute.

The break occurred shortly after 1pm on the downtown C platform, where riders could see water pouring from a pipe near the ceiling and cascading onto the platform below. Videos and photos from the scene show a steady stream of water falling right at the edge of the platform.
