The man behind the wheel of a BMW that fatally struck a 1-year-old boy in a Queens parking garage is not expected to be charged with a crime, police said Monday.
Investigators believe the 29-year-old driver of the 2025 BMX X4 did not see little Imron Bakhtiyorov after the toddler broke free from his parents at about 7:40 p.m. Saturday in the Rego Park garage, according to police sources.
The driver and the victim’s family live in the same apartment building just several floors apart next-door to the garage at 98th St. near 62nd Drive, police sources said.
Medics rushed Imron to New York-Presbyterian Hospital Queens, but he could not be saved.
The driver stayed at the scene.
The private parking garage is for building tenants only, according to a security officer. The garage has speed bumps and 5 mph speed limit signs.
