CHARLOTTE, N.C. – North Florida women’s soccer earned a hard-fought road win over Queens, 2-1, on Wednesday night at Queens Sports Complex.

With the win, UNF moves to 7-8-3 overall and 5-3-1 in the ASUN Conference.

Senior midfielder Chloe Lynch secured her second-consecutive match with a goal during the 25th minute off an assist from redshirt junior forward/midfielder Paige McSwigan to give the Ospreys an early 1-0 advantage. For McSwigan, the assist was her first of the season.

In the opening half of play, North Florida fired off seven shots including five shots on goal and were stout defensively not allowing Queens to register a shot on goal.

Queens would go on to tie the match, scoring off an own goal in the 62nd minute. However, redshirt junior forward/midfielder Isabella Pontieri responded with a goal of her own in the 77th minute off an assist from Lynch to take back the lead.

For Pontieri, it marked her eighth goal of the season, fifth game-winner of the year and third-consecutive match with a goal. The assist was Lynch’s third of the season. Pontieri would end the contest with six shots which marked the eighth time this season that she has fired off five or more shots.

North Florida limited its opponent to just two shots on goal and held a 18-9 advantage in shots with seven different Ospreys firing off at least one shot.

In total, 20 Ospreys saw action, with junior midfielder Zoe Looker and redshirt freshman goalkeeper Chrissa Avery each playing the full 90 minutes.

North Florida will play its ASUN regular season finale on Saturday, Oct. 25, at West Georgia in Carrolton, Ga. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at University Soccer Field and will be streamed on ESPN+.
