There was a little drama early Monday. The same day the New York state Republican nominating convention began on Long Island, news leaked that Nassau County Executive and Republican candidate for governor Bruce Blakeman was reportedly set to pick Fulton County Sheriff Richard Giardino for his lieutenant governor candidate. But then, Giardino opted not to join the ticket.Â
It was a little embarrassing for Blakeman who needled Gov. Kathy Hochul for something similar. But Blakeman ultimately chose Madison County Sheriff Todd Hood, who accepted the position. A formal nomination will take place Wednesday on Long Island.Â
Chapin Fay, a Republican media strategist and the founder and CEO of Lighthouse Public Affairs, discussed what Hood brings to the ticket with Capital Tonight host Susan Arbetter.Â
