The New York Giants are expected to hire Tennessee Titans linebackers coach Frank Bush to serve in the same role on new head coach John Harbaugh’s staff, reports Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports.
Bush, 63, brings nearly four decades of NFL experience to the Giants. A former linebacker drafted by the Houston Oilers in 1985, he played two seasons before transitioning to scouting in 1987 and coaching linebackers starting in 1993.
His resume includes stints with the Denver Broncos (where he contributed to Super Bowl wins in XXXII and XXXIII), Arizona Cardinals, Houston Texans (as defensive coordinator from 2009-2010), Miami Dolphins, New York Jets (including interim defensive coordinator in 2020), Atlanta Falcons, and two separate terms with the Titans.
The move reunites Bush with Giants defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson, who worked with him on the Titans’ staff recently and earlier with the Jets in 2019-2020. Bush’s recent tenure with the Titans saw him help rookie linebacker Cedric Gray rank fourth in the NFL with 164 tackles.
This addition bolsters the Giants’ defensive staff amid ongoing rebuild efforts under Harbaugh. Bush’s veteran presence and prior collaboration with Wilson are expected to provide continuity and expertise in developing the unit’s linebackers.
