QUEEN, NY — One person was killed, and another individual is unaccounted for after a four-alarm fire in Queens Monday night, the FDNY said.
In total, nine people were injured due to the blaze, including one firefighter.
Firefighters responded to the scene around 6:45 p.m. for a first-floor fire on Dongan Avenue between Poyer Street and Broadway.
As of about 9:30 p.m. on Monday, there were roughly 230 fire and medical personnel responding to the blaze.
Four people jumped out of windows to escape the fire, the FDNY said. Firefighters rescued two people from the second floor.
One victim remained in serious condition at a local hospital as of Tuesday morning.
Fire marshals will determine the official cause of the blaze.
An investigation remains ongoing.
