STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Bad Bunny’s record-breaking Super Bowl Halftime Show performance, certainly coveted New Yorkers’ attention.
In a stat shared by the New York City Department of Environmental Protection on Feb. 9, the water and sewage-handling agency said there was a “significant reduction” in the city’s water usage during Benito’s headlining set.
In the minutes after, however, the agency observed a spike they say was equivalent to nearly 800,000 toilets flushing.
“NYC saw a significant reduction in water usage throughout the five boroughs during the Super Bowl’s [Bad Bunny] halftime show yesterday,” the agency said in the X post. “In the 15 minutes right after the show ended, there was a spike in usage equivalent to 761,719 toilets flushing across town.”
This suggests New Yorkers were holding off on bathroom breaks until after Bad Bunny wrapped his star-studded set.
Bad Bunny performed several of his most popular songs, including “Yo Perreo Sola” and “NUEVAYoL,” the more eagle-eyed viewers may have noticed some of the many celebrity cameos.
Some of the more obvious ones were the other performers joining Bad Bunny on stage, including Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin.
