NEW YORK (PIX11) — New York City residents are getting a chance to sound off about their landlords during the city’s first rental ripoff hearings beginning this month.

The hearings will take place in each borough, starting with Brooklyn on Feb. 26, and will give tenants the chance to share their housing experiences in one-on-one conversations with city officials to help shape housing policy. Residents interested in taking part in the hearings must RSVP online for one location.

New Yorkers are welcome to share any issues they’ve experienced in their apartments, including poor conditions, repair delays, business practices and non-rent fees. Each hearing will include city leaders from agencies that focus on tenant stability, housing quality, and consumer protection.

Mayor Zohran Mamdani signed an executive order to establish the hearings in January in an effort to help protect New Yorkers from what he’s called abusive landlord practices.
