NEW YORK (WBNG) — The New York State Police issued 8,263 tickets during its Super Bowl enforcement initiative.
From Friday, Feb. 6, through Sunday, Feb. 8, state police increased patrols and conducted sobriety checkpoints to identify and arrest impaired drivers.
During the initiative, troopers arrested 177 drivers for DWI and investigated 822 crashes, including one fatal incident.
Troopers also targeted speeding, aggressive driving and other dangerous driving behaviors.
The following tickets were issued across the state:
Speeding: 2,395Distracted driving: 287Seatbelt violations: 267Move over law violations: 115
In the Southern Tier, troopers arrested 11 drivers for DWI and issued a total of 603 tickets.

Funded by the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee (GTSC), the initiative was carried out in collaboration with local law enforcement agencies across the state.
