STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The New York City Department of Sanitation announced Tuesday that trash collection on Monday, Feb. 16, will be postponed in observance of Presidents Day.
For New Yorkers who usually put their garbage, recycling, and composting out on the curb Monday night, collection will be moved to the evening of Tuesday, Feb. 17, instead.
The department warned that “collection delays may occur after holidays and winter storms” in a written statement.
“We appreciate patience as we work to collect the backlog of material,” the statement said.
