Born and raised in Queens, retired NYPD Detective Robert “Bob” Nero passed away on December 31, 2025. Bob entered the Police Department in 1966 and joined the NYC Housing Authority Police Department (HAPD) and served in many areas of Queens. He was a life member of the NYPD Guardians and Retired Guardians. After the merger, Bob continued working as a member of the NYPD Guardians, serving as a delegate to Police Service Area (PSA) 9. As remembered by friends, Bob sought to bring the NYPD and its communities together to slow down crime and bring better understanding towards each other Detective. Nero made a huge difference in the communities of Queens and will be sorely missed by his loving community, loving family, and the NYPD.
