QUEENS, N.Y. (PIX11) — A Romanian man was arrested in Germany for allegedly killing a 74-year-old pedestrian in a Queens hit-and-run four years ago, police said Wednesday.

Florin Stoian, 30, was arrested on Tuesday and charged with manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide in connection with the fatal incident on Aug. 14, 2022, according to the NYPD.

Stoian was allegedly driving a black BMW when he struck Be Tran while he was crossing the street near Seneca and Myrtle avenues in Ridgewood at around 7:40 p.m., police said. Tran died at the scene.

Stoian fled the scene after the accident. He was then recently apprehended in Germany and extradited to New York City.

He was additionally charged with assault, leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, criminal mischief, tampering with physical evidence, and reckless driving, police said.

Stoian’s arraignment was pending on Wednesday.
