Friends and supporters gathered at Connolly’s Times Square in Manhattan on February 3 for an event organized by Irish Pro-Life USA honoring pro-life leaders from Ireland and America.
Peadar Tóibín TD, leader of Aontú, accepted the Distinguished Leadership Award. Tóibín was in the United States to launch Friends of Aontú USA and attend the March for Life in Washington, D.C., where he joined a delegation organized by the Ancient Order of Hibernians in America that met with lawmakers on Capitol Hill.
Aontú, meaning “Unity” or “Agreement,” is a socially conservative, all-Ireland political party founded in January 2019 and led by Tóibín, operating in both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.
The Public Service Award was presented to Eileen Slattery and her late husband, Chris Slattery, founder of EMC Frontline, now part of CompassCare. Eileen Slattery accepted the award on behalf of herself and her husband.
“We could not have done it without Chris and Eileen,” said CompassCare Regional Executive Arlene Rotella.
CompassCare is a network of pro-life, faith-based pregnancy centers in New York that provide free, confidential medical services, including ultrasounds, STD testing, and abortion pill reversal information, to women with unplanned pregnancies.
