CONEY ISLAND — Members of the Brooklyn Bar Association (BBA) and their families spent a fun-filled, lighthearted, activity-packed afternoon at Coney Island’s New York Aquarium on an unusually warm fall afternoon, celebrating the organization’s inaugural “Family Day” on Oct. 18.
The jaunt took place during the facility’s “Ascarium” season, a Halloween-themed festival combining marine life exploration with spooky/fun family activities, such as magic shows, face painting, carnival games and more.
BBA members and their families were also treated to a performance of the “Sea Lion Show,” which succeeded in dazzling and entertaining.
Great networking opportunities
BBA President Christina Golkin, Esq., told the Brooklyn Eagle that she is trying to create more content and programming for attorneys and judges who have children and families.
“We’re hoping that this kind of diverse programming brings together lawyers and judges who are parents as well as younger attorneys and families to provide great networking opportunities,” Golkin said.
Golkin explained that when she was in high school, community service was a part of her graduation requirements, and she volunteered at the New York Aquarium for many years during high school and college in their education department.
“I’ve spent a lot of time here, and I know how special this place is, how wonderful the staff is and how dedicated they are to conservation and caring for animals and doing public outreach.”
