STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — There were four reported vehicle thefts during the week of Feb. 2 through Feb. 8, according to NYPD data.

Despite the number, the amount of automobile thefts reported in the borough this year has gone down.

Car thefts reported through Feb. 8 dropped 14% (25 vs. 29) when compared to the same period in 2025, according to the NYPD’s latest CompStat figures.

The database indicates that four cars were stolen on Staten Island between Feb. 2 and 8 — the most recent week for which statistics are available.

Here’s a look at those incidents:

On Feb. 4 at 9 p.m., a car theft was reported at Forest and Walbrooke avenues in Randall Manor.On Feb. 6 at 6 a.m., a car theft was reported at El Camino Loop and Malibu Court in Huguenot.Later that day, at 10 p.m., another car theft occurred at Castleton Avenue and Havenwood Road in Brighton Heights.On Feb. 8 at 7 a.m., a car theft was reported at Annadale Road and Forrestal Avenue in Annadale.

Starting at the end of summer 2023, the NYPD enacted a tactical shift aimed at curbing car thefts. In developing an intricate, multi-agency system to gather and analyze intelligence, law enforcement officials were able to drive down the number of grand larceny auto cases, which were surging at the time.
