DOWNTOWN — TWO QUEENS MEN were charged in Brooklyn federal court with orchestrating a decade-long scheme that allegedly siphoned $120 million from Medicare and Medicaid through illegal kickbacks and fraudulent billing, the Justice Department announced Feb. 9.

Prosecutors allege Inwoo Kim, 42, of Flushing, who owned a pharmacy and two adult day care centers, and Daniel Lee, 56, also of Flushing, paid cash and supermarket gift cards to induce seniors to fill prescriptions and enroll in day programs. Authorities say the pair then submitted claims for medically unnecessary or unprovided services, at times exceeding licensed capacity.

Both men are charged with conspiracy to commit health care fraud and face up to 10 years in prison if convicted. A complaint is an allegation; they are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
