NEW YORK (PIX11) — The Diocese of Brooklyn announced on Wednesday the closure of seven Catholic elementary schools in Brooklyn and Queens at the end of the school year.

The diocese cited declines in enrollment and ongoing financial issues.

“The decision to close them was made only after careful consideration and with great sorrow,” Deacon Kevin McCormack, Superintendent of Schools, said.
