Nurses at Montefiore and Mount Sinai voted overwhelmingly to ratify new three-year contracts, covering about 10,500 nurses and ending their nearly five-week strike.

The deals include raises of more than 12% over three years and staffing increases. But more than 4,200 nurses at NewYork-Presbyterian rejected a tentative agreement and will remain on strike.

2. Infant identified as missing victim in deadly Queens fire

Authorities identified a 1-year-old girl as the missing victim after a four-alarm fire on Dongan Avenue in Elmhurst.

3. Mamdani says city budget crisis isn’t as bad as initially thought

Mayor Zohran Mamdani said New York City’s projected two-year budget gap is $7 billion — down from the $12 billion estimate he shared two weeks ago.

Speaking in Albany during “Tin Cup Day,” Mamdani pitched new taxes on wealthy residents and businesses to close the gap. Gov. Kathy Hochul opposes tax hikes. Mamdani’s preliminary city budget is due Feb. 17.
