PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – A direct flight from Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport to New York City’s LaGuardia Airport launched back in June, but only on Saturdays. However, starting Sunday, October 26th, the flight will take place daily.
According to airport officials, the flight is important because it directly connects the Florida Panhandle to New York City, and vice versa. This opens up business opportunities and leisure travel.
They say they’ve already seen success with the Saturday direct flight.
“It’s probably the most talked about new service that we’ve added,” said Parker McClellan, the Airport executive director. ”The number of people that are telling me ‘I already booked my ticket’ so there are a lot of people that are going up for Thanksgiving, and the holidays, because New York is known for a historically beautiful holiday season.”
Airport officials estimate they’ve been working on this for about 10 years. We are told that they will continue to support this flight as much as they can.
