An Upstate New York man has been arrested after police allegedly found a loaded gun in a baby’s playpen.

The Buffalo News reports Jeremiah J. Walker, 22, of Niagara Falls, N.Y., was the subject of a probation officer conducting a home check Tuesday. Police and Niagara County Probation officers said they saw a man wearing a face covering carrying a child into a home on 18th Street; a woman who answered the door said it was her brother, identified as Walker.

According to a police report, suspected narcotics were found during a search of a bathroom after Walker exited. Walker was detained, police said.

A further search found a fully automatic Glock 44 handgun in a baby’s playpen. Police said the firearm had a “Glock switch” affixed to the rear, making it “capable of fully automatic fire.”

According to Niagara Action, Walker and the woman who said she was his sister initially denied owning the gun. After both were taken to the police station, officers said Walker admitted the gun was his and charged him with third-degree criminal possession of an assault weapon, a class D felony.

Walker was scheduled to be arraigned in Niagara Falls City Court on Wednesday.

Police have not released additional details. No injuries were reported.
