MIDTOWN, Manhattan (PIX11) — A panhandler was fatally shot during a fight inside a 7-Eleven in Manhattan on Thursday morning, police and sources said.

The victim was shot in the neck at the 7-Eleven at 589 Eighth Ave. near 38th Street in Midtown at around 10:26 a.m., according to sources and the NYPD.

The suspect and victim started fighting outside the 7-Eleven before the argument spilled inside. Both men then went to the back of the store, and the gunman fired one shot, sources said.

The victim, believed to be in his 40s, was a known panhandler who would open the door for customers at the 7-Eleven, sources said. He died at the scene.

The suspect fled wearing a dark jacket and a facemask, police said. There have been no arrests.
