The Bronx Chamber of Commerce is calling on Bronx businesses, restaurants, and entrepreneurs to register by Feb. 15 for the upcoming Bronx Day in Albany, a full-day economic development forum spotlighting the businesses, nonprofits and institutions driving The Bronx economy, which will take place Tuesday, March 10, at the Albany Capital Center, as reported.
Hosted by the Bronx Chamber of Commerce, the event returns after nearly a decade and will convene state leaders, agencies, employers, entrepreneurs and community partners from across New York. Organizers said in this final week, space is limited.
They said a central feature of the day is the evening business and cultural showcase, which offers exhibitors direct access to statewide decision-makers, opportunities to expand market reach and increased visibility for Bronx-based goods, services and missions. They said the showcase is designed to highlight the organizations that serve as the economic engine of the borough, including major employers, small businesses, entrepreneurs and community-based nonprofits.
They said multiple exhibitor options are available and restaurants and food-and-beverage organizations may offer tastings during the evening showcase, with a limited number of $500 stipends still available to support participating establishments. They said food items may not be sold on-site, but exhibitors may take orders for future fulfillment, including shipping or third-party services.
Entrepreneurs, artists and makers are also encouraged to register as artisan exhibitors, allowing them to sell their goods and engage directly with attendees from across the state. Organizers said general businesses and nonprofit organizations may register to showcase their work, promote their services and missions, and build relationships with businesses across the state, state leaders and agencies.
In addition to the showcase, Bronx Day in Albany features a leadership luncheon and an afternoon of state-agency workshops that provide practical resources for businesses and nonprofits. Workshop topics include access to grants and capital, MWBE & SDVOB certification, procurement and contract opportunities, energy and utility programs, HR and labor compliance, workforce development, insurance, and more.
Tickets to the leadership luncheon are $99 and include two panel discussions on key economic issues facing The Bronx: “Building the Bronx: Real Estate & Housing Solutions in a High-Cost Environment,” and “Doing Business in New York: Costs, Constraints, and Competitiveness.” The afternoon workshops and evening showcase are free and open to the public, with registration required.
